Do you like to hang out with your friends?
Yes, I like to hang out with my friends but nowadays we do not usually go out because we are busy with our work. Some of my friends have moved to other cities to settle down while the others are still in the same city where I live. I think for a month, we just hang out once or twice. We sometimes go to the shopping mall to do window shopping. We also go to our favorite coffee shop to have a small talk and to enjoy our favorite beverages.
§Settle down- to become familiar with a place and to feel happy and confident in it; to start living in a place where you intend to stay for a long time, usually with your partner
§Window shopping-the activity of spending time looking at the goods on sale in shop windows without intending to buy any of them
§Beverage- a drink of any type
What do you think is the most important thing of being friends?
Being friends comes with incomparable companionship that you and your friends only have. This is a special relationship that we always hope to stand through the test of time. It is important that you are genuine. Being true to your friends is not a bed of roses; however, this helps in solidifying your bond with your peers and at the same time accepting one’s imperfections.
§Incomparable- so good or great that nothing or no one else could achieve the same standard
§Companionship- the enjoyment of spending time with other people
§Genuine- If something is genuine, it is real and exactly what it appears to be
§Solidify- to change from being a liquid or gas to a solid form, or to make something do this
Do you think that technology makes it easier to make new friends?
I agree that technology makes it easier to meet new people and may make it easier to make new friends, but for clarification, the people I have just met are not my friends yet. They are my acquaintances and they may become my friends after some time. It is because building a friendship requires trust. How can I trust someone I have just met a few seconds ago? It is not easy to make friends especially online as there are many fraudsters or criminals who are just waiting for their prey.
§Acquaintance- a person that you have met but do not know well
§Fraudster- someone who gets money by deceiving people
§Prey- an animal that is hunted and killed for food by another animal
How could people find reliable friends on the Internet?
As I mentioned earlier, the online community is not a safe place to make friends. To find reliable friends on the Internet, we must check their backgrounds first. You should be alarmed if the person you are dealing with online is always after your bank accounts and your personal information. We should be sharp in identifying online fraudsters to avoid being deceived. In time, we will be able to know their true intentions through chatting or talking to them.
§Reliable- Someone or something that is reliable can be trusted or believed because he, she, or it works or behaves well in the way you expect
§Alarm-sudden worry and fear, especially that something dangerous or unpleasant might happen
§Deceive- to persuade someone that something false is the truth, or to keep the truth hidden from someone for your own advantage
§Intention- something that you want and plan to do
Do you like to make friends with older people?
Yes, I like making friends with older people. First, it is easier for me to start a conversation with them as they easily catch up with my ideas or sentiments. It is not difficult to express my thoughts across as they already know where I am coming from. Secondly, I love it when they share their stories and experiences which I can relate to as I am already a mother. Lastly, talking to them makes me to feel my age.
§Sentiment- a thought, opinion, or idea based on a feeling about a situation, or a way of thinking about something
§To feel one's age- to realize that you are no longer young
